Policies and Procedures

  1. On the first day after checking in, each student will shower and then meet on the first set of bleachers with their parents where they will be introduced to their teacher. Parents will then move to another set of bleachers. At that point, only swimmers and staff will be permitted on deck.
  2. Safety: Please encourage your child to concentrate on his instructor, his lesson, try all skills and follow all safety rules. The bleacher area is available for parents. Only swimmers and staff are permitted on deck during classes.
  3. Dress Code & Equipment: Students will wear appropriate swimming attire for classes. One piece suits are preferred. Swim caps are recommended for all school age students in all classes. For all students, hair needs to be kept out of the face during swimming. Please provide a towel for swimmers to take on deck with them. This will help keep the bleachers and floor dry and help prevent slips and falls. Goggles (without nose pieces that restrict the nose) are recommended but not required, if a swimmer can open their eyes under water.
  4. Registration may be done by phone or in person.
  5. Payment is due when registering. Classes may be paid for by check or cash
  6. Withdrawals/Refunds: Students who withdraw at least one week before the 1st day of class will be issued a refund minus a $10.00 administrative fee. Unfortunately, we cannot offer make-up classes, refunds or program credits for withdrawal within the one week period prior to the class start or during the class.
  7. Return Check Policy: There will be a $25.00 charge on all returned checks.
  8. Vacation Absences: No credits will be made for classes missed due to student vacation.
  9. Instructor Absences: Classes missed due to instructor absence will be made-up. If appropriate, a substitute instructor will be used.
  10. Make-Ups: Make-ups due to instructor absence, weather, or mechanical problems will be made up at another time during the session. That will be at the discretion of the Learn To Swim Director.
  11. Weather: Swimming is not permitted at the GCCC during thunderstorms. If a storm interferes with the session that session will be made up at another time.
  12. Class Assignments: Enrollment in the SFAC Learn To Swim program is contingent upon registration. SFAC Learn To Swim reserves the right to place students where it can and will make every attempt to place the students in the appropriate program.
